Frequently Asked Questions

My Daughter is on a Top Gun Team already - does she need to try out again?

YES, they should try out again. This is the best way for us to evaluate all of our players and see who plays well together. This is also the best way for us to make decisions about moving players up to higher-level teams.
If your daughter is currently on the Blue team - NO, they do not have to try out again. Blue players need to register for tryouts, this puts them on our list as returning summer players. If your daughter can't make it to tryouts or is not interested in switching teams, let us know!
There are no tryouts for Maverick teams.

What does the practice schedule look like?

Just like last year, all Top Gun teams will practice twice a week. Blue, White, North, and Gray will practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00-10:00am. Middle School and Elementary School will practice on Mondays and Wednesdays from 8:00-10:00am. Blue, White, Gray, Middle School and Elementary School will practice in Sandy. The North Top Gun team will practice in Weber or Davis county close to I-15.

Maverick teams practice on Mondays and Wednesdays from 8 to 10 am. We will have teams in Cache, Weber, Davis, Salt Lake, Utah, and Washington County.

What is the cost of a summer Top Gun team?

The fee for a RETURNING Top Gun player is $1,750. That fee covers 16 practices, field rentals, tournament registrations, team equipment, coaches pay/travel, and recruiting help (if wanted). As usual, we will not travel as a team.
The fee for a NEW Top Gun player is $1,925 and includes a jersey and player pack.

Why should we choose Elevate?

We hope you've seen this fall why Elevate was named the "Best Club Team in Utah" by U.S.A. Club Lacrosse! We care about what we do - we love this sport and our players! Our goal is to make them better lacrosse players - last year 57 of our players won All-Region awards. And ALL of our coaches played (or play!) college lacrosse. We also want to create a positive place for our players to create lifelong friendships, and learn off the field life skills. Literally, it's our favorite job ever and we hope you'll join us again next summer!

What does chaperoning mean?

A Chaperone is a parent that is responsible for a group of players at the tournament - getting them to all the games, fed and back to Salt Lake.  The chaperone parent is just that - the chaperone, driver and coordinator for those players for the entire weekend. Food, driving, hotels, etc.
We have found it is REALLY successful for a parent - or a few parents - to chaperone small groups (3-4) who have similar schedules/priorities. Logistically, it's easier if all the girls in the chaperoned group are from the same team (same warm-up times and fields), that's why ideally, we would have 1 parent from each team. Traveling to tournaments on your own is what most clubs do now because it is the most cost effective for all involved.

Why do I only see scheduled games for Saturday and not Sunday?

Most tournaments play pool seeding games on Saturday and bracketed playoff games on Sunday.  How you are seeded for the Sunday games depends on how well you do on Saturday.  In some tournaments there will be a championship bracket and a non-championship bracket.  Usually the top 8 seeded teams are in the championship bracket and the rest of the teams are in the non-championship bracket.  No matter how you do on Saturday, you are guaranteed 2 games on Sunday.
